It feels so good to be in the third trimester and so bad, all at the same time! It's awesome to know that time is flying and we're only 11 or 12 short weeks from meeting our sweet Georgia, but the fatigue and aches are starting to set in again. It will all be worth it when we see her sweet face! Can you tell we're getting excited?
Last weekend, we had our first baby shower! And can I just say, the hostesses really outdid themseleves. It was held at our friends' boathouse at Lake Caroline and it was the perfect setup. People were able to go in and out as they wanted, the food was delicious, and the cake was super cute! We got a ton of great stuff... to name a few, our car seat and plenty of cute outfits and monogrammed burp cloths. Thank you to everyone who helped and who came! It is something we'll always remember.
This past weekend, we attended our Childbirth Classes! Woo Hoo! We are ready for labor and delivery... NOT! Haha but we seriously feel much more prepared. I'm actually looking very much forward to labor. Don't get me wrong, I know it's going to be painful! But at the end of all that, I get to hold the very being that I've been growing in my belly for 9 months. I'm definitely anticipating that day.
Yesterday, I had my 28 week check up. Everything went great. Her heart rate was in the 150's - 160's still. They went ahead and "checked" me to make sure I wasn't dilated or effaced at all. I am glad to report that everything is still closed. I have been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions. They don't worry me at all, but they worry Michael, of course. I know they're pretty normal... some women feel them, some don't. Mine seem to happen more when I'm dehydrated so I just drink more water and most of the time they subside. Dr. Wiggs, the doctor I'm seeing while Dr. Johnson is on maternity leave, seemed to be a little concerned because I have more than 4 in one hour sometimes and up to 12 in a day. He just told me to keep an eye on them. No biggie! I will be going to the doctor every 2 weeks from now until 36 weeks. And by the way, I passed the Glucose Test from last visit with flying colors.
Georgia has been training for a marathon, I think. She has been moving so much lately... I love it. Now I know why mom's say they miss feeling the baby move once they're born. I will definitely miss it but I'm going to enjoy it and love it while I can.
I've decided to add one thing to the blog since I've hit third trimester. I'm going to call it "The Things that People Say" I'll start with just a few that I can remember and I'm sure I'll be able to add plenty during each blog post.
"Well, Katie, you're not skinny anymore!"
"Oh, you're pregnant....I thought your face was fatter."
"Oh, look at you, you're getting on out there."
I'll go ahead and admit it... I've officially hit the 20 pound mark and people are obviously starting to notice. The things people say really don't bother me, I just find it funny most of the time so I thought I'd share with y'all.
Baby's size: By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels.
Eating habits/cravings: Barbecue! Seriously, I could eat it everyday.
Mood/Energy: Getting a little tired again. March was a very busy month so that probably has a lot to do with it.
Things to look forward to: We are going to be super busy until her arrival... we've got 2 more baby showers, my best friend's wedding, our nephew's first birthday party, our anniversary, plenty of church activities, and so on and so on to keep us busy until June 19!
Oh did I mention that Georgia's daddy will be turning the big 3-0 in less than a week?? Yep, that's right! We'll have to do some major celebrating! :)
Major development this week: She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
Our sweet baby that inspired this blog years ago will be two in just a few weeks. We can not believe how fast it has gone by! She is such a blessing! We are so excited to add another blessing to our family in December! We can not wait to start making memories as a family of four!

Growing and Going! Week 25
These past couple of weeks have been busy ones... for us and Georgia! Since my last blog post, we have made our trip to the Bahamas and back...we've been back for a week now. :( It really was the best vacation we've ever been on. We both agree that it was even better than our honeymoon. It was so very relaxing... it was just what we needed to get back into the swing of things. It really seems like one big blur of memories b/c it just flew by.... but that's probably b/c we didn't do much while there. We woke up every morning wehn we wanted to, had breakfast, laid by the pool or on the beach, had lunch, did some walking around, went back to the room and rested, got dressed for dinner, ate dinnner and went to bed... EVERY DAY! There was one day that we took the bus into town. We walked through the straw market, had lunch at a fantastic Greek restaurant, and did a little shopping... we even bought Georgia something! She got her very first tourist t-shirt... it's super cute! It has a popsicle on it and it says "sweetie"... it's black & white and when you get into the sunlight, it's colors come out! Pretty cute... we couldn't not get it for her since this was her first vacation with Mommy & Daddy! I also finished 2 of my baby books while in the Bahamas. I've been dying to read Jenny McCarthy's book, Belly Laughs. It was so cute. Although not very educational, it does make you feel better about all the physical and emotional changes that are happening. I would recommend it... such a short, easy read. The other book I finished was Babywise...I've had a ton of moms tell me to read this. Basiclly, it teaches the importance of putting baby on a schedule: Feed, Wake Time, Nap Time. Repeat! Even if I can't follow it exactly, it will be great to go back and reference some of the good advice in there.
My belly is getting bigger and bigger everyday... and I'm still feeling Georgia move all the time. She really likes to dance around between 10-11 at night and anytime after I eat. It's still so neat to feel and see her move.
Baby's size: Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga. (not my favorite food reference so far)
Eating habits/cravings: Still loving cherry limeades from Sonic! My appetite has increased a little bit over the past couple of weeks.
Mood/Energy: Feeling great still!
Things to look forward to: Our next visit is March 11 (26 weeks) - Glucose Test! Let's hope I don't have gestational diabets. I'm not that worried about it b/c typically I have low blood sugar. After that, I will start going every 2 weeks!
We are finally going to pick up the rest of her furniture this weekend!
Also, our first baby shower will be March 19. So excited!! We are very blessed with great friends.
Major development this week: She's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
